Usually the Provo River is calm and placid as it makes its way through proper Provo. Actually, it's a calm river as it makes its way through Provo Canyon. Usually it's calm enough for young children to float down and for fly fishermen to stand it. This year the rivers in Utah are running high. We had an exceptionally snowy winter with a cold spring so the snowpack is just now coming down. On Saturday I got my first look at the Provo River as it flowed through the heart of Provo. I was shocked to see rapids! The usual calm and gentle flowing river was a raging torrent. Miles was upset that we wouldn't let him close to the bank to throw rocks into the river. Maybe in August...
