Shhh... Don't Tell

The other day at the pediatrician's office, I asked the doctor about feeding Miles yogurt (because he loves it). The doctor said to wait until Miles was one not because of the cow's milk protein, but because yogurt is loaded with sugar. Well, I didn't give Miles yogurt today...

Have You Heard the News?

We've been trying to move off and on for the the past 6 years, but it hasn't worked out, until now (hopefully). We are about 10 days away from closing on a new house! We are headed down the street to Lindon so we can live in the boundaries of the junior high that I like. Nolan is excited, and Jonathan has accepted the move. The best move-news that we've recently gotten (besides the offer acceptance) is that the appraisal came back higher that the selling price of the house! Yippee! I am excited... but overwhelmed! There is so much to do to fix this house up so we can move in... new counter top needed, porch repairs, exterior door to be reframed, carpets must be cleaned, and lots of wallpaper to strip and painting to be done! And then there is the work to do on our current house, the packing, and the actual move. Ugh... it makes me tired! Excited, but tired!

New Love

A while ago I posted that Miles likes the baby backpack. He prefers it over the stroller and that is fine with me because then my hands are free! We go for a "backpack ride" on most nice weather days. Well, Miles has a new love... the lawn mowing backpack ride. On Monday, Dan decided that the mid-calf length grass was no longer stylish and it needed to be mowed. He decided to take Miles with him on the mowing adventure. Miles loved the sound the lawn mower made. He was so happy to ride back and forth across the yard following the lawn mower. When all the flat parts of the lawn were mowed, Dan gave Miles to me so he could mow the hill without worrying about falling and hurting Miles. Miles had a cow! I was holding Miles and he was squirming and kicking and squawking and reaching out to the lawnmower. We stood outside and watched Dan finish mowing. I hope his love for the lawnmower continues into his teenage years!

Mobile Miles!

Miles had his 6-month (wow!) check-up today. He is doing fabulous! At 6 months and 2 weeks old, Miles is 27.25 inches long (70%) and 17# 8 oz (41%). I was surprised that his percentiles weren't reversed. He does new things everyday. His latest trick is mobility! Miles doesn't crawl yet (give him a few days), but he can creep!

Nolan's Birthday

Nolan has a cool birthday... for the past several years it has fallen during Spring Break! This year was a milestone birthday for Nolan... he is "a decade"! Happy birthday buddy (several days late). Nolan woke up to birthday signs and "10" signs all over the upstairs. He got dressed and we went out and got doughnuts. He spent the rest of the day chillin'. He got money, books, a slip-n-slide, a DS game, a wooden pen that Jonathan made in woodshop, and a new bike! He's been wanting a bike that would let him go faster. Mission accomplished. Nolan also got a present he wasn't planning on. We woke up on the 16th to a foot of snow. Ugh! Nolan went to Tucanos for a birthday lunch. Pumpkin was in town and came too! Nolan had a fun day. In a few days we will continue his birthday celebration and go to "Liberty Land" as a family.

Eagle Court of Honor

Jonathan's Eagle Court of Honor was held on Saturday. Not only did he receive his Eagle, but he earned 5 more merit badges and his bronze palm as well. Years ago I promised Jonathan that if he got his Eagle, I would pay for the "bird man" from Hogle Zoo to come with his Bald Eagle, Liberty, to do his presentation at Jonathan's Eagle Court. He remembered and on Saturday we got to honor Jonathan and his achievement in scouting. The bird man came. Jonathan got to pose with the bird. The bird was a little naughty though and bit Jonathan in the abdomen. It was cool to see an Bald Eagle so close up. The bird man got the bird to squawk, rustle his feathers, and spread his wings. It was a cool presentation. So Jonathan has acheived the highest rank offered by the BSA, but he says he isn't through. He has enough merit badges for 4 more palms, but has to endure the waiting period before he can have another palm (there is a 3 month waiting period between palm awards). We're proud of you Jonathan!
